So this blog is going to be about my training for some local sporting events. I plan on doing two triathlons and a full marathon this year.
So, I little about myself. Three years ago I weighed in at 330 lbs. I decided then and there I was going to get in shape and lose the weight. I had tried dieting before and exercising to varying degrees of sucess but it never lasted. This time I decided I needed to change my life in order to make it work and stick. So I cut out all fast food and junk food and changed my portion size of my meals, I also started walking. I had great success and started losing the weight. I added in Biking and Hiking and then running. So far (as of this post) I have lost 124 lbs. Orginally my goal was to hit 220lbs then it got changed to 210 then 205 but now I really believe I can hit 185 and be super fit.
In the last few months I have really gotten serious with my running. I have also biked back and forth to work all winter only missing a few days.
At the beginning of the month I ran in my first organized road race. It was called the louisbourg slush run. It is a five mile run in the historic town of Louisbourg. I did well finished in 0:42:23 and 19th place overall (out of 29). Two week later I ran in my second race. The Francophone Week Run which is a 5km road race in Sydney. My time was 23:31, 11th overall out of 28.
Also about 2 weeks ago I started swimming at the Kiwanis pool here in Sydney. I am working up my endurance and starting to feel good again in the pool.
So getting back to my major goals for the year.
First, The
Heart of the Highlands Triathlon which is a swim/bike/run race with distances of 1500m/42k/10k This is going to be held on June 28th in Ingonish, Nova Scotia.
Second, The Port Hood Triathon which is also a swim/bike/run race with distances of 1500m/40k/10k. This is being held in Port Hood, Nova Scotia on July 19th.
Finally, The Fiddlers Marathon. Being held in Sydney, Nova Scotia on Sept 20th. This is a full marathon. Should be fun.
